Cecily Legler Strong was born on February 8, 1984. She is an American comedian and actress. Strong is known best for her role as an Saturday Night Live cast member from 2012 to 2022. Strong has the longest tenure of a female actor in the history of the show. Strong was hired for SNL during improv classes in The Second City in Chicago, where she moved after her graduation from CalArts. Strong is currently the main character of the Apple TV+ musical comedy program Schmigadoon! (2021-present) and is also co-producing.
She also voiced The Awesomes (2013 to 2015) In addition, she has supporting roles in movies like Ghostbusters as well as The Meddler. In 2015 she was the host of the White House Correspondents' Dinner. Her first book, a memoir called This Will All Be Over Soon, was published in 2021.

Early life
Strong was born and raised in Springfield, Illinois. She is the daughter of Penelope Strong and William "Bill" Strong, who both served as Associated Press bureau chiefs and at the time of 2013, they owned their own public relations firm. Penny Legler Strong, a nurse practitioner who worked extensively in hospitals of the region has retired. Strong is the daughter of divorced parents. Strong has watched SNL alongside her mother as a child. She would reenact sketches with her friend and then watch old SNL commercials on VHS. "I had a tape filled with the best commercials and I was always wearing it." She has stated that she was influenced by Phil Hartman.
