Handler began her work on The Tonight Show as a correspondent. Handler achieved her first big break in 2006 when she hosted a show for E! It was named The Chelsea Handler Series. It lasted for two seasons. Handler then performed in America as part of the Comedy Central Hour Stand-Up Comedy Tour. The stand-up shows she has performed have been aired by VH1 as well as Comedy Central's Premium Blend, and HBO. In 2010, it was announced that she was to host at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards. With this, she became the first woman to host the VMA's following Roseanne Barr.
